About

How Can I Help You?

My passion is to help people have a fulfilling and satisfying career. Far too many people are stuck in a job that drains their energy, when they could have a job that is uplifting and allows them to have a life!

I have committed the last two years to learning the skills needed to help you create the tools you need to find the new career which best suits you.

Is Coaching Right for Me?

Coaching is for active people who want more from their business and personal lives.  They are determined to go forward in their lives and know that with the right support they can achieve anything.

Coaching is not for people who do not want to do any work or take persistent action towards achieving their goals.  Coaching is for people who do not expect a ‘quick fix’ or want the coach to tell them what to do. A coach helps unlock their client’s potential by believing in them, expecting the best from them and by providing tools that will help them to achieve their goals.

There are lots of programs available on the internet today that call themselves ‘coaching programs’ when they mean training programs. Coaching is very different as it is a specific process that does not give direct advice but encourages you to find the answers by using listening and incisive questioning techniques. You are naturally creative, resourceful, and whole and it is you who set the agenda.

Are You Happy With Second Best?

Most of us go through life settling for second best in our jobs.  Even though we do not love what we do, or even dislike what we do or the environment we work in, having a steady income coming in regularly means that we never take the step we need to change our job or our career. Does that apply to you?

Have You Been Made Redundant?

Others of us in greater numbers have faced redundancy at a time of world recession. Redundancy can be devastating to the whole family and affects confidence and self belief. Similarly, staying in the same job and experiencing stress due to unhappiness can result in stress and poor health.

Is Your Career Your Passion?

Do you know what work you have a passion for or enjoy doing so much that you lose track of time? We all have natural talents, certain tasks that come easy to us and which are unique to us. When we use our talents, time moves fast and we tend to receive compliments for our abilities.

Knowing or finding out where your natural talents lie is key to choosing the right career. Of course we are capable of doing other things, but those other tasks usually feel more like work. What do you always enjoy doing, and how can those skills be applied to a job? Doing work that you love is inspiring and good for your health, both physical and mentally.

Career Coaching Works

With coaching, I have at last found a career that I am passionate about as I love to help people to go forward in their lives. It really matters to me to see people overcome self defeating, negative behaviours and thoughts to bring forth and use their unique gifts. With coaching you can find a career that uplifts and inspires you.  I strongly believe we should all get paid to do what we love to do. Coaching can and does work to bring about profound changes in people’s lives.

Why Career Coaching Works

Career coaching keeps you accountable and motivated towards your goals. A coach acts as your sounding board and champion. As equal partners we will work together for your ultimate goals and the ‘brand’ that is you. We will spend time exploring your own personal brand and/or the brand for your new company.

The world needs you and your special talents! Do you want to stand out from the crowd?

You were born to stand out, not to fit in.

How Career Coaching Works

I provide career coaching over the internet via Skype or telephone with regard to Coaching Sessions. In my Career Change Intensive program, I offer a full one day individual workshop with me face to face supplemented by four coaching sessions.

As your coach I will help you find out what your ideal career is and determine how you can get paid to do what you love. We will explore your passion and the obstacles that have prevented you from working in your dream career. We will look at your mindset and deeply held values and beliefs to ensure they serve you.

Together we will develop goals, a vision and career plan. I will support you while you move towards your goals and achieve them and hold you accountable for your actions so that they help you achieve the life that you want. I will champion you and motivate you throughout.

The Value of A Career Coach

Considering a career change whether by choice or not is tough to do alone, it becomes even harder when we talk to close friends and family because they are so close. Some will worry you are going to give up a good job and risk their security, others will tell you to stick at what you know.

If you have been made redundant then those around you, although supportive, will be very concerned for you.  Some will know how to help perhaps, but without being trained to Coach may not give you the best advice.

Think carefully about your way forward and avoid costly mistakes by listening to those who may have a different view or reason for what they say.

Who would you listen to, a good friend who has no qualifications as a Doctor or the Specialist Doctor who has studied for years and knows what they are talking about?

Working with a Career Coach who has studied the subject and knows the steps you should take will help you identify and then define the steps you need to take towards your new career without becoming emotionally involved in the process.

What Does Career Coaching Involve?

This is such an important question and one you need to understand fully before considering taking on a Career Coach.

A Career Coach will work with you over a series of one hour sessions or through a one day session. Each session will explore who you are, what you have achieved, what you are interested in and where you would like your Career to be in the future.

If you are interested in changing your career, go to the Coaching Sessions or Career Change Intensive pages where you can find more detailed information on what I can offer you. I look forward to working with you!

These sessions will help you define You, your CV, your online image or Brand, how to identify your next employer or even apply for a new role or position with your current employer.

My journey

I chose to be a career coach because I have gone through the experience myself and know how difficult it can be, particularly for those facing redundancy. My story is given below and describes the career change journey that I took that led to where I am today.

I spent more than 20 years in the public sector, mainly working for local authorities in London.  The majority of time I worked in the social housing sector.  I worked for two employers for eight and nine years each and from the last one I took redundancy in March 2008.

It was a big shock to be given notice by an employer to whom I had given many years of loyal service.  I felt fear for the future as I worried about raising my one-year-old daughter as an unemployed single parent. I felt scared and abandoned.

Turning point

However, I had known for some time that I was not really happy or passionate about my work. I wanted something more creative and fulfilling for me that allowed me to express who I was as a whole person, not just one part of me.

The turning point came when I decided that I would work for myself and be in control of my own time. I decided I would not look for another job but set up my own business. My employer assisted me by providing me with outplacement support in the form of a coach/mentor who helped me to do set up my own company over three months from the comfort of my own home. I secured my first assignment straight after, and started working for myself as a contractor to the social housing sector.

However, I was still in the same field. It was a sideways move.

Breakthrough

My breakthrough came at a free introductory weekend course on coaching which literally blew me away. I realised that I had been coaching and developing staff for years and that this had been for me the most rewarding part of being a senior manager. I decided to get my qualifications as a Life Coach and as a Corporate and Executive Coach two years ago with the renowned The Coaching Academy.

I am now a qualified Life Coach and Business Coach and an NLP Practitioner. My niche is career coaching where I help people succeed and transform their lives by finding and working in their ideal careers.

I have at last found work that I am passionate about as I love helping people to go forward in their lives. I enable people to create careers that energise and inspire them.  I strongly believe we should all get paid to do what we love to do. It really matters to me to see people overcome self defeating and negative behaviours and thoughts and bring forth their unique gifts.
